EXPLORE (Walking Path)

EXPLORE

EXPLORE, the indoor walking path is now open during all building open hours.

Outdoors:A walking path that is 1/9 of a mile and flows in and out of AL!VE – allowing for discovery and self-exploration. Video monitors line the path to provide inspirational stories and motivation.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy EXPLORE. AL!VE averages approximately 300 walkers (indoors and outdoors) each day, and the walking path changes direction daily. The cork flooring provides comfortable, shock-absorbing flooring.

EXPLORE also flows outdoors as a 1/5-mile outdoor walking path in PRESERVE. Located in the front of AL!VE near the Floyd M. Jewell Memorial, and dedicated in memory of Dorothy Leeser, who was a long-time Charlotte resident and community supporter, this path is available to walkers as the weather permits. Stroll through our memorial garden to view:

  • Benches dedicated to loved ones including Dorothy Leeser and Rosalie Cicorelli
  • The Vitali-tree honoring former Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital V.P. Robert McElmurray
  • INSPIRE, a metal sculpture that illuminates at dusk, brought AL!VE by the Howser and Kimmer families

EXPLORE continues along the west side of our property through burms, bioswales and along HARVEST, our community garden. Walkers may then continue westward onto the American Legion's trail loop or north toward a scenic portion of EXPLORE curving through the woods at the back of AL!VE. Download our PRESERVE Trail map here, and experience the natural beauty of this outdoor walking trail firsthand.
